No Stick Things In Nose Jarvis, Makes Dah Sad

Jarvis and I spent some time playing in the wee front yard late yesterday afternoon, as it gets some nice dappled sunlight at that time of day. Jarvis was playing in the plants and generally destroying them, which is cool, as I'm going to pull them all up this weekend and put some turf down. After about an hour, we came inside and Jarvis kept sneezing and had a slight whimper, which unsettled me, as you get to know your little person's noises pretty well. It was then that I remembered he'd picked some hard green seeds off some of the plants, and I'm not sure why, I guess parental instinct I suppose, but I put my fingers on the bridge of his nose to check. Sure enough, there was a large lump and he squealed in pain, so I sat him down, didn't panic and tried so see if I could gently ease it out without doing any harm and causing any discomfort. Thankfully, I did manage to work it out, from the outside and was shocked to see a large green seed. My next move was to sit Jarvis down, get his full attention, which is never easy and explain that it's not good to stick things inside your nose, as it's dangerous and makes Dah sad. I made him repeat my words and then again to his Mumma when she came home. He said sorry and gave me a kiss and hug too, just to let me know that he'd go the message.

On the bright side, Adrienne did come home and give me the Child Allowance, which she has decided that I can have. OMG!, a whole $120 a fortnight for Jarvis and I to spend on stuff. Actually, it will go on parking, train tickets and stuff like that, but I'm sure the odd ice-cream or coffee will get purchased too.

After yesterdays feeble attempt to build Jarvis a Lego boat for the bath, I set about making an improved version this morning, which this time floated rather well. It's based more on a container ship and has Jarvis driving, with his Dah and Mumma at the back, which leads me to wonder what Dah is up to with that huge smile on his face ;o)

After Jarvis had his bath, we drove to the fantastic Powerhouse Museum to meet up with our new buddies, Lisa and Luca, who we met last week at The Australian Museum and exchanged numbers with. Jarvis and Luca get on very well and Lisa and I seem to have a similar attitudes to life and raising our little people, so it was a great play date for everyone. As we are both full-time parents, we tend to get spoilt with museums, as they are pretty empty when we go out of school holiday time, so our next catch up will be to a park or open space over in Lisa and Luca's part of town, as most places are packed in the holidays, as they were today at the museum. It was still a great play date and we had great fun hanging with our new buddies.

I am so glad to hear you got the seed out of his nose. That must have been scary!

Your boat is floating! Did you taped up the bottom so the water would seep through it?

No tape Shoshana, so it does slowly fill up with water, but there's enough air trapped inside all the bricks that it keeps afloat.
