Way back when Adrienne and I lived in the UK together, there was a time that you couldn't switch on your TV without seeing
Jarvis Cocker's face as he'd pretty much appear on anything. The funny thing was, we never tired of him, as he came across as being very intelligent, witty and a man of conscience. We were most impressed, as were half of the TV viewing public that night, when he got up on stage at
The Brits and ripped the piss out of Michael Jackson by crashing the weirdo's stage show. Probably the other 50% of the population at the time thought he was a complete tosser, but something struck us and years later when we were thinking of a name for our first born, we both decided that we'd name him after Jarvis Cocker. It's not like we were big fans and had all the Pulp albums, actually, I only owned
This Is Hardcore when we named our son. Furthermore, I'd never seen Jarvis Cocker live, until last night that is. It was a last minute decision to go see the man live and I'm glad I did, as it was a great gig, playing all his tracks from his first solo album
Jarvis. He was chatty, funny, entertaining, smart, gifted and had a heart, so it looks like we made the right choice in naming our son after him. Physically, I think the only similarity between the two Jarvis' is their waistlines...how skinny is he?
Jarvis and I thought we'd pay a visit to
The Powerhouse Museum this morning, as we'd not done any museums for a while. As it was a lovely autumn day we took the light railway in and had a really good time on the train chatting to everyone. I'm beginning to think that spring and autumn are going to be our favourite times of year, now that we live in Sydney, as it's pleasantly hot, unlike the summer when there's been days that we couldn't venture outside, in fear of cooking within minutes.
As ever, the museum was heaps of fun and I love how I can just let the wee man go whichever way he wants. It's 3-hours of not having to utter 'No' once. It's all safe and hands on, so little people can touch, play and run as much as they want, in fact it's encouraged and what better way is that to get people into a life time of museum visiting.
We are still doing the toilet training and have had no accidents yet. I've kept the first week very simple and kept Jarvis in underpants only at home and when we've driven or walked to the train station to meet Adrienne. I need to take the next step this coming week and venture out a bit further and for a bit longer. Stay tuned eh!
House Dad.
