Mother's Day 2007

It's Mother's Day in Australia today and Jarvis arose nice and early to give his Mumma her present and card as she lay in bed. The present was the really funky PJ's that Jarvis choose in Myers in the week, plus a card with puppy dogs on, which of course, once opened, ensured that Jarvis would pull out his best puppy dog impression. All of the above was carried out with Jarvis looking resplendant in his t-shirt that we picked up at the mall with the words 'My Mum Rocks' on the front. It really did put an extra smile on Adrienne's face.

As it was a very pleasant day in Sydney, we decided that we'd make the most of the sunshine and take a trip on the light rail into town and join The Maritime Museum, as we indicated that we might do in the week. After checking out the entry prices on-line before leaving, we worked out that for Adrienne and I to go on all the vessels, would have cost $60, so it made sense to become members at the cost of $85 for one-year. There are heaps of advantages too, such as entry to the members lounge, entry to special exhibits, VERY cheap, by Sydney standards, parking and discounts in the shop and restaurant. So it was a no brainer in the end.

We all had a wonderful time going on the HMSA Vampire, HMSA Onslow, HMSA Advance and Endeavor. Jarvis was so excited that he barely stopped to take any of it in, rushing from here to there and back again. There's heaps to see on all the vessels, so I think it will be another cool day trip location for us to visit. I enjoyed HMSA Onslow most, as I've always wanted to go inside a submarine, and I can remember that there was one at Greenwich, South London once when I was very young. I wasn't allowed to go on it for a reason I can't remember, it may have been a height thing, but I was devastated and was damaged for life...lol. Anyway, I thought it was great but it freaked Adrienne out, because as you can imagine, it was very confined and we've no idea how 68 people could live in such a confied space.

After spending about 2-hours clambering all over these vessels and not even venturing inside the museum, it was time for a spot of lunch at the restaurant on-site. I had some delicious bagels and Adrienne and Jarvis had the most scrummy fish and chips. Jarvis even went off on his own to see the waitress to ask for some more wee biscuits that came with my coffee. He was rewarded with a few on a plate and given a box of biscuits as we left. I tried to look cute and score some myself, but came across as a fat old bloke on the scrounge! Adrienne also grabbed a picture of me (see below) at lunch looking tired and sad after spending all night and the early hours of Sunday morning watching Super 14 Rugby, only to see first The Blues knocked out, but then my beloved Crusaders. On the upside, WELL DONE to The Sharks and The Bulls who deserved their wins, enjoy your final, you SO deserve it :o)

Now it's the evening and Adrienne is in the kitchen making scones as she's had a craving, so it was off to Ken's house down the road to borrow the ingrediants. We have them all here, but I put all the flour, baking soda, corn flower and other stuff in glass jars, but neglected to put labels on them...doh! So yeah, we are now waiting with bated breath for some fresh scones to cap off such a wonderful Mother's Day.

Mummy totally deserved her "cheerleader" jersey!

So, you woke up to watch the match...Congratulations!
See the good part of it : now they have 3 weeks before playing against France (and kick our a**)! I think it's part of the conditionning camp program by Graham and the staff ;)

Enjoy my end of the weekend/ i.e. you Monday morning

How did the scones come out? My mother's day was fun...especially after my kids decided it was time to give a bath to our doggy....twice!

I have a mountain-full of laundry, mostly all my towels. I now think fondly of the times a long time ago when "all dirty" towels means 6 of them. Whatever possessed me to buy 3 dozen big towels? It was all used for the doggy! Not to mention the hair in the bath tub, mat and all other places.

Hi Lee, it's grewvybaby's Ma here. Your unlabelled glass jars with your flour etc made me laugh. We have moved into our new house and I am slowly in the process of re-stocking the pantry. I will be sure to clearly label all the jars! We are not-so-patiently waiting for a modem to arrive at home so we can get internet access going in the new abode, then get a bit better at updating Dominic's blog. Meantime, I love checking out your blog, in those much-needed sanity moments here at work. So lovely to see Jarvis grow up and anticipate the arrival of his wee baby brother (? did I read somewhere on your blog about it being a boy?). By the way, in the picture above of Jarvis holding the worm, I reckon he looks quite a bit like you. End of long comment!! Cheers, Jenny
