Bye Bye Nanny Ronnie And Granddad Steve

It was a pretty sad day for us all today, as we said farewell to Nanny Ronnie and Granddad Steve, who have been over from the UK for the last month. Considering that we have such a small house here in Sydney, Nanny Ronnie and Granddad Steve went out of their way, not to get in our way, as we went about our daily business of getting ready for work, school or trips out. It went so smoothly, mainly due to Veronica and Steve. At times it made me think of how those submariners who live and work on submarines cope, as they squeeze past each other, as we all did in our narrow hallways.

But yeah, it was a wonderful 4-weeks with them here and Jarvis and Felix had just the best time getting to meet them for the first time. Nanny Ronnie and Granddad Steve were so good with our wee men and gave Adrienne and I loads of positive feedback on our parenting.

I especially liked taking Jarvis to school and returning to find all the beds made, the dishwasher emptied, the rubbish taken out, the washing hung up and sandwiches made for lunch. I enjoyed it so much, I even had visions of building a Granny flat for my Mum. It's going to be hard next week, after being so well looked after. But in all seriousness, my Mother and I had some very hard years 'way back when', but I'm so glad that she's met and married such a wonderful guy like Steve; they are both so happy together, which makes the rest of us happy too. Though that might be due to the 6 or 7 bottles of wine they drink each evening!!!!

The boys will miss them most of all, because as Jarvis walked into the house after school, he yelled out "Nanny and Granddad, I'm home, where are you?" He looked so sad when I said that they had flown home. And poor wee Felix keeps walking out to the back room to find his Nanny, so that they can play chase. Ah well, we'd better start saving for a trip to the UK I suppose ;o)

House Dad.
