My Brother Would So Not Be Impressed

I remember some years ago, my brother Roland, not allowing his son Jay to have a certain toy dog, as it had a pink ribbon around its neck. As much a I love my brother, Working Mum and I have no such problems, but noticed that Jarvis seemed to have only boy-type toys. So this morning, after a great time at Plunket playgroup, we went to the Warehouse and purchased Jarvis a pram and doll. He loves pushing it around and within a few hours, if we asked "Where's Bub Jarvis?" He'll go up pick up his doll and put it in the pram.

To push the point home, someone recently said to me "Boys become Dads one day too", which is certainly true. Perhaps if more boys were given dolls, then we wouldn't see things like rows of Dads at the museum, sitting back, reading the paper and ignoring their children while the the mums do all the work, as I saw this week.

Right, got that off my chest. My next mission is to get the parent and child parking signs changed at the local mall - they all have a child with an adult wearing a skirt!

House Dad.
