We met up with Tieia, Porsche and Scarlett at 10am, as arranged at the big pond and began feeding the various birds and the odd big fat eel that occasionally surface for bits of bread. We also spotted a few turtles which, until now, I had no idea lived in the pond. I tried to get a picture of the turtles, however they are very shy and submerge when we get near. I did at one stage take a few pictures, but it turned out to be a stick and Tieia promised not to tell anyone about my blunder...Doh!
As you can see from the pictures, it's quite a drop down into the water and Jarvis certainly kept Tieia and I on our toes and gasping for breath with some of his VERY - VERY close shaves with falling in. I've already got plenty of grey hair, but I think Tieia acquired her first few this morning watching Jarvis. It's moments like this that it's reassuring to know, that if anything that awful did happen, both Tieia and I are first aid trained.
That reminds me, I think I forgot to mention that when Adrienne and Jarvis were back home in New Zealand a few weeks ago, I did a St John's course in first aid, specially designed for dealing with little people. It was a great course and only cost $85 which, is nothing when it comes to knowing what to do in an emergency.
At about 11am, we were joined by Chris, Alisa, Kai and Spencer under the shade of some large trees where we'd ducked to escape the sun. We also chatted with another parent and her 11-month old daughter who were from Kaitia in New Zealand which, made up the group of 11 souls, all enjoying the first sunshine for a few days.
So apart from the odd scary moment of Jarvis nearly falling in the lake, we had a wonderful morning, thanks to Tieia's wonderful idea and have planned to do lots of new things in the coming weeks to keep it fresh.
To celebrate Valentine's Day, Jarvis and I picked up on an idea suggested to us by our good buddy Cherie, who was over from New Zealand last weekend. After Jarvis had his lunch time nap, we took a walk to a local Deli that I spotted the other morning when I was out running. We asked the woman to put together a selection of foods for our 'Yummy Mummy' meal, bearing in mind that Adrienne is pregnant, so quite a few of the foods were not suitable. Some of the food we left with was not suitable, but we did put together a wonderful platter of lovely food, bread and fresh orange juice, that Jarvis and I enjoyed with our Adrienne/Mumma whom we love more than anything in the world xox
