My Old Man's A Dustman

I did something this morning during my 5.30am run, that I'd normally never do and that was to pick up some junk from outside someone's house and bring it home for Jarvee. As I ran on the homeward leg, I spotted a beaten up old surfboard dumped outside a house and said to myself, "Jarvis would love that." But I kept on running, as I so don't pick up junk, but suddenly turned round, picked it up and carried it for another 2 kilometres home. Once Jarvis got up and saw his new piece of junk, he was delighted and insited on watching Scooby Doo in Hawaii which has lots of surfing scenes, while sitting on his new broken board.

Once up and dressed we quickly visted the local public school to find out about pre-school for Jarvis and came away with some forms which, we will fill in and take back on thursday. OMG, my wee man going to school one day, how scary!

From there we drove over to the Eastern Suburbs to catch up with our buddy Tieia, and Potia and Scarlett at the place I vowed I'd never go back to, The Holdsworth Community Centre, that has daily play groups. It's where the very wealthy Eastern Suburb mum's take their little people and it's one of the unfriendliest places I've ever been. It's very stuck up and there are 'the groups' of mum's who really rate themselves. Saying that, I did bump into a couple of mum's who I met way back, so combined with catching up with Tieia and the girls, we did actually manage to have a good time.

The highliight of the morning was definately chatting to a couple of really nice Cook Island guys who were working near the play group. Jarvis was most taken by them, and I got to chat about my favourite subject rugby for a full 20-minutes.

After Jarvis had his lunchtime nap, he came wandering up to me at the computer wearing my new sunglasses, taking out and dropping all my cards and pretending to talk to his Mumma on my cellphone. He looked a lot cooler with my stuff than I do, that's for sure.

The rest of the afternoon was spent just playing around the house and making lots of mess before his beloved Mumma came home. Then after dinner, with the help of his beautiful Mumma, Jarvis made some delicious banana milkshakes. We drank ours, but Jarvis just used his to blow bubbles in!

House Dad.
