NZ Trip Day Seven: Back In Crusader Country

We had a pretty good drive over The Lewis Pass yesterday and arrived at Hanmer Springs by 4.30pm. Adrienne and Jarvis slept all the way which is surprising, as the weather was horrendous, with the camper van being blown from side to side through the wet and windy pass, with a few VERY scary moments.

This morning we spent a couple of hours at the thermal pools, where Jarvis had a great time climbing over the rocks and waterfalls, with the odd slip resulting in going totally under the water, something that's not advisable with thermal water, due to some of the bugs in it. He seems OK though.

After a quick lunch, we all had a sleep in the camper van before the 2-hour drive to Christchurch, home of my Super 14 rugby team The Crusaders. Before Adrienne and I slept, we chatted for a while and both said that over the last couple of days, something has changed in Jarvis and he seems to have dropped all his baby trait all of a sudden, and has become over-night, a little man. Did it just happen, or is it because we are on holiday and now have the time to stop and enjoy him properly? I think it's the latter, as although we have lots and lots of quality time at home with Jarvis, just being somewhere different has allowed us to see him as the little man he has become.

We are now at Brenton's house, who is Adrienne's younger brother. He lives here with his son's Connor and Kyle and his soon to be wife, Donna and her daughter Rylee. It's the main reason we've come home for this break, to attend their wedding this coming Saturday.

House Dad.
