The Boy Next Door

When you live in the type and size of houses that we do in Sydney, you really have to utilise as much space as possible, to enable you to live a comfortable life. Well ever since moving in, I've had my eye on the front yard thinking, what a waste of space, when it could be grassed and used for Jarvis to play on. So after the incident of Jarvis sticking one of the seeds from the plants in the front yard up his nose this week, I decided that this was the weekend to get stuck in and do the deed.

So bright and early, Jarvis and I were out front pulling up the plants, with a view to getting them and all the top covering of bark to the local dump, when the kind builders down the road said that we put our garden rubbish into their skip. To make things simpler and more fun for Jarvis, they even lent us a wheel barrow. At this time too, Scott from next door came out and gave Jarvis a ride in the wheel barrow, plants and all.

Jarvis just adores Scott and listens out each day for him to come home and can often be found outside Scott's house shouting for him to come out. Scott is also the person we've been threatening Jarvis with, when he doesn't eat his dinner for months now. We'd say, "We'll give it to the boy next door if you don't eat it." I think I'll carry the threat through one day and see if Scott is up for a feed of potato balls, mini-dinosaurs and chicken nuggets, all liberally coated in layers of tomato ketchup.

So anyway, the removal of plants and bark went really well and Jarvis got to hang with his hero Scott for ages. I of course, with my gay hands, got loads of blisters, so will be complaining about that for days now. Adrienne, as proof of may manliness, took a few photo's too, so that we can prove that every once in a while, I can do the slightest of manual work, with the pictures including one of my butt too! Now we just have to wait until next weekend, when Adrienne has a long break, to see if we can get some top soil and grass down, so that they boys can play on the VERY small lawn with cars and toys.

Oh, I should add too, that Scott is a West Ham fan, and we've decided that Jarvis can follow that team too, which will make his Grandad Dave back in England very happy, as he's been a life long fan. Who knows, one day Jarvis, along with his Grandad might even be able to go to see The Hammers.

House Dad.
