Happy Birthday Tommy and Sophie

With one thing and another, we've not caught up with Jarvee's buddies Tommy and Sophie since before our trip home to New Zealand in mid March, and we've really missed them heaps. So it was wonderful to be invited along to the zoo today to catch up with he twins, their big brother Alexander, their Mum Jane, their Nanny Becky and first Nanny Annie and her two current charges Sophie and Robbie. The biggest bonus though was that today was the twins birthday and Jarvis was absolutely busting to give them their present and the gifts he picked for them back in New Zealand.

It was a mad dash though in our house this morning, as I'd had a late night out, overslept and didn't run or get anything ready for our trip out. So if was breakfast on the run, then very quick baths and breakfast then a smart drive into town to drop Adrienne off at work, before the zoo. Once at the zoo, Jarvis was pacing up and down saying "Where Tommy and Sophie?." He's really missed them heaps and no wonder, as they are just the perfect little people.

I'm still trying to remember what we saw and did at the zoo, but am struggling as Jarvis was his normal whirlwind and dashing from place to place. I do remember that he manged to get into a Koala pen at one stage when he ran off! We did of course see lots of cool animals and had lots of chasing time, which was meant to wear Jarvis out, but no sign of any sleep yet in this house today. It's also a bonus to have two great Nannies around, as they know all the cool tricks to keep a gaggle of toddlers together and focused.

At one stage Becky asked me if I enjoyed being a House Dad, to which I of course replied yes, which is true. It's nice to be asked that question every now and then, as you do tend to forget and take for granted what a priviledge it is to spend everyday with your little person and do such fun things with such wonderful people. So yeah, I LOVE being a House Dad.

As normal, I took about 100 pictures, of which only about 10 are fit to use on the blog, because as you can imagine, it's near impossible to get 6 little people all in the same picture to smile at once. I think I got pretty close, minus wee Sophie in the picture of the 5 of them sitting on the lizard though.

As it was a pretty hot day, so all the little people stripped down to their underwear and played in the water park, which was great fun and very refreshing for them all. It was also a great way to finish off the trip to the zoo and follow it up with a round of ice-blocks supplied by Jane, who is such a terrific Mum. I think the sugar rush from the ice-blocks might have helped Jane and Becky push the prams from the cafe, up the steep paths to the exit, as that's some climb I can tell you.

So yeah, the perfect day out with the most perfect people...Happy Birthday Tommy and Sophie oxo

House Dad.
