Pirates, Parks And Pissy Pants

Adrienne and I have had our eye on a wooden pirate ship and island at Kids Central for a month or so now, wondering whether we should buy it, as we were not sure it Jarvis would be into it. It cost $100 for the ship, $60 for the island and $30 for the figures, a total of $190. Well last week I got an email from the company to let me know that during April they are having a 50% sale off certain items, and wouldn't you know it, all the pirate stuff was in the sale. So I jumped on-line and ordered the lot for half price, as it was too good a bargain to turn down.

It arrived yesterday morning and fortunately Jarvis didn't see it delivered, so I had to chance to put it together with some strong wood glue to Jarvis proof it. It had all day to set and when we returned from our walk to the station to collect Adrienne, which included picking up beer bottle tops, that Jarvis calls pirate treasure, we gave him his present. He was stunned and it took a while for it to sink in, however after 20-minutes or so, he couldn't stop smiling and playing with it. He loved it so much in fact, that he had to take it to bed with him and Adrienne not only shared her bed with Jarvis, but a ship, island and 15 pirates! Apparently he was even calling out "Pirate ship, where are you?" in his sleep.

Adrienne left very early this morning for a business breakfast, so never got to say bye to her son, but Jarvis did wake and call out "Mumma...PIRATE SHIP" and rushed into the front room to cuddle his ship and island. Mmmm, it's now 2.58pm and Jarvis is in the garden playing in his sand pit and I've not heard him call "Dah" for a couple of moments. You know the deal, no sound, so something must be going on...back in a second. Back again, and as I thought, he was filling up the air-conditioning fan with sand...boys! So yeah, the pirate ship and island was a complete success and bargain to boot.

As it's Thursday we drove over to Centennial Park to catch up with Lisa, Oscar, Zara, Alisa, Kai, Spencer, Chris, Amanda and Mia. They told us to meet in a new place under the something - something fig tree. It was only when we got there that I had no idea what a so and so fig tree was! We found everyone later and had a great time playing in the trees, climbing big boulders, playing chase and hanging with some really cool mates. Jarvis did wet his pants though, which was in no way his fault, as I'm juts learning what to do. At home it's a breeze with no accidents now, but this morning I should dropped his pants after the 30-minute drive, by a tree and given him the chance to wee. I didn't know this, but will try that next time.

House Dad.
