Sink Or Swim?

An advantage of Jarvis and I being so close and always coming down with the same bugs, is that I know what he's going through, as happened over the weekend. Jarvis was right off his food and I knew why, because we both had wee colds that came with pretty sore throats. We were both having a hard time swallowing, so we made allowances for this and gave him food stuff that was easier to go down. As we had wee bugs we were both a little flat, which was great, as Adrienne is getting pretty tired all the time now with her pregnancy, so we took the whole weekend slowly, with me even making the call to not update the blog yesterday, which is a major thing for me to do. Our only trip out was for lunch to Birkenhead Point outlet stores for some gozleme and then home for a long, long sleep.

With Jarvis off his food, we were pleasantly surprised this morning when he opened the fridge looking for something to eat. This has only ever happened a couple of times before and normally after an illness. He had a look and asked for some melon, which is his favourite, when he's got a sore throat. I think this must have sparked off a long lost memory in Adrienne's mind, as she suddenly had a craving for a breakfast she last ate as a very wee girl, and that is kiwi fruit and honey on toast. Being the dutiful husband, I soon had her craving fulfilled, but stopped short of eating it myself, as it does seem a rather strange combination, but as pregnant cravings go, it's not that extreme.

One downside of Jarvis getting this bug is that he's right off his baths, which is very unusual, as he's normally in the bath for between 20 - 40-minutes each morning. So I planned ahead and built a wee pirate ship from Lego, with Jarvis at the front and his Mah and Dah sitting in chairs at the back. I took it into him and said, "Jarvis, I've built you a pirate ship with you on the front and Mah and Dah at the back, do you think it will sink or float?' Within seconds he was racing down the hall, butt-naked, carrying his boat and into the bath. Mission completed. Oh, it semi-floated by the way, but I took notes on how to improve my design, so watch this space :o)

We still took it easy for the rest of this morning with Jarvee and I only walking as far as play group around the corner. It was pretty busy with the school holidays on, but nice to see everyone and know that we are not the only ones with colds. We played for about 2-hours and totally wore ourselves out and needed some fluids on the seat outside before out walk home. Now back home, Jarvis is having some quiet time and I'm updating the blog and thinking that life is just the best :o)

House Dad.
