Boundless Energy At Little Dynamo's

This morning Jarvis and I went to the aptly named Little Dynamo's in Waterloo for a run around to burn off some energy. Our visit was also to book a room for Jarvis' 3rd Birthday Party, as Adrienne and I have decided that this was a nice middle distance venue between our Inner West and Eastern Suburbs friends. Also Adrienne vetoed my choice of having it at home, because as she rightly pointed out, our house is way too small. So rather than call up and book a room, the boys decided that we might as well go over for a play.

They have four rooms to choose from, the Fairy Room, The Jungle Room, The Sea Room and The Space Room. We opted initially for The Space Room, however I had a look inside and although it's a fantastic room, lit with fluorescent lights and with the walls covered in glowing planets and stars, I felt it might be a little intimidating for some of our younger guests. Jarvis of course, being mad about all things celestial, thought the room rocked. I do hope I've made the right choice. So yeah, I changed his room to the Jungle room, which is very cool indeed.

Once I'd done all the booking, I went off to find Jarvis found him at the pneumatic guns of course. He didn't have any foam balls to fire from the guns, so I went down and filled up some bags for our gunfight. It was so funny once we loaded up our guns and spent about 5-minutes trying to blast each other. However Jarvis as per normal, got bored and went off elsewhere. Not to miss this opportunity, and as there was no one else around at that time, I filled another two bags and played on my own, indulging in a little regression.

As I said at the start of this post, Little Dynamo's is aptly named, as Jarvis kept on going and going, getting redder, hotter and sweatier by the hour. At one point I had to sit him down and make him drink fluids, as he'd not stopped playing and running for over an hour. It wasn't just Jarvis either, as I must have covered a few kilometres playing with Jarvis an the other little people. He wasn't getting worn out and I was spending heaps on topping up my coffee levels, just to keep up. However after 3-hours he didn't make a fuss at all when I said it was time to go home.

Once at home, we changed into shorts, ate nachos and drank juice out on the front porch in the dappled sunlight under our maple tree. At this point our neighbour Scott poked his head round the wall and smiled, as he saw what a lovely life Jarvis and I lead. It's true, it can be quite lonely at times and tedious on occasions, but when I think about some of the crappy work I've done in the past, this must be the best job I've ever had.

House Dad.
