However, before we set off it was time for a quick sit on on the loo to make sure Jarvis had an empty bladder. What to do while sitting on the loo? I know, let's pull those silly faces that Auntie Sally taught Jarvis to pull last week. So there we were pulling faces and having a great laugh, with Jarvis laughing so hard at the faces that I was pulling, that we got numbers two's as well - bonus! I know his Mumma will freak at the first awful picture of her cherub, but I've countered it with two beautiful ones of Jarvis laughing at me pulling faces.
So on with the shopping, which went very well, as I tried to engage Jarvis with the whole process, letting him pick certain items, resulting in some unusual things in our pantry, but I'm sure we'll find a use for Kosher gherkins sometime in the future. I think Jarvis also picks food items the same way as his Mumma, and that is to choose the food items that are the smallest, have the most packaging and cost twice as much as the cheap brand I normally go for.
Anyway, as he was such a good boy with the shopping, I told him so and bought him a toy from the cheapo shop in the mall to say thank you (Once again, Concerned Parent from St Ives. don't bother with your comments, as to whether this is right or wrong, I don't give a toss)
Once home and with the shopping unpacked, including the kosher gherkins, we unwrapped the toy which consisted of a low loader truck, jeep, tank and several small soldiers and their kit and played on the grassed front lawn in the sun. And despite feeling a bit down over the last week, just being with my beautiful son, playing with our toys, filled me with the most immense joy.
House Dad.
