Monday Is Chore Day

Mondays have now become the day that the boys and I do the weekly shop. I'm not sure how it happened, but I think it's better that we do it on a Monday rather than take up precious time from our family weekends. It's also a great test of my diplomacy and diversion skills, as taking a nearly four-year old and a 10-month old to a supermarket is quite a tricky thing. I think I could now become a magician, as my slight of hand technique when I put stuff back on the shelf after Jarvis has put it in the trolley, is truly amazing.

I must admit that it can't be much fun for the boys to spend half an hour trundling around a boring old supermarket, so I try and throw a few fun things in too. For example, this morning super tight Dah forked out a whole $2 to let the boys go round on a mini ride. Joking aside, they had a wonderful time. They also got to play with the PCs at the Internet section. I loved that bit, because it was free..ha ha.

In total we must have spent about 2.5-hours at the mall, which isn't too long, but it was full of enough running around and expending energy to completely wear Jarvis out. Within minutes of getting into the car, our poor wee man was fast asleep. And to make things better, by the time I'd pulled up at home, son number two was fast asleep too. It's at times like these that I'm grateful that I've mastered the technique of lifting the boys out of the car and getting them into bed without waking them up.

It was good that Jarvis had a sleep, as towards the end of the day of guests Signe, Betty and Evie arrived for a play. Sometimes if the wee guy has gone that far into the day without a sleep, he can be a bit moody and temperamental, making for a few dramas when we have other little people around. But today, he was pretty good and had a lovely play in the sandpit with Betty.

Jarvis was busting all day though for his beloved Mumma to come home, so that he could show Adrienne his new Lightening McQueen slippers. I couldn't capture it with the camera, but the tiny headlights on the Lightening McQueen flash when he walks along. They look so cool.

Right then, that was our day and with Mondays, I'm off to bed at the ridiculous time of 8pm. Sad or what?

House Dad.

Looks like a totally fun day, as always! On a side note, how is the breastfeeding going with wee Felix? I haven't read about it for awhile, just wondering as I remember how hard it was in the beginning (I was the same!)

Hey Ailsa, thank you for your comment. Re: Felix and the bottle. Well he's still not the slightest bit interested in milk from a bottle, be it Ade's or formula. So through the day i make sure that he stays well hydrated but letting him drink VERY VERY diluted fruit/vegetable juice from one of those small fruit juice bottles. Plus I add extra fluid to his meals. Once Ade is home, then he'll feed for ages, but every now and then doesn't seem to be interested. So yeah, not prefect, but not a dram either. It's all good. Lee :o)
