The Key

On Monday Jarvis was with me when I got a new key cut for when I go out running. Normally, I'd take a set of house keys with me, that I either have to carry in my hand or if I'm wearing my Fuel Belt, can stow in the pouch. However, the other day I saw a runner with a house key threaded into their running shoe laces and thought what a great idea. It works well, with the only problem being that Jarvis keeps trying to take the key off. So this morning I promised him that I'd go and get one cut for him and if I could, I'd get a coloured one. To my surprise they had a display of keys that featured Disney characters, so I opted for the Finding Nemo one. To make it easier for Jarvis to not lose the key, I also attached it to a lanyard.

When I picked Jarvis up from school I said "Jarvis, have you been a good boy today? Because if you have, there's a present in my pocket for you." Of course Jarvis replied "I've been a good boy Dah, is it a key?" He was stoked with his new key and ran straight up to Oliver to show him.

Me being me, I'd prepared one of Jarvis chairs by the front door for when we got home, as I'd be carrying Felix in one arm and a camera in the other hand. It all went to plan, except that he didn't take the lanyard from around his neck, so nearly chocked himself when I reached up to put it into the door. I had to give him a hand to turn it, as he's still a wee bit short to reach, but he was delighted to unlock the door and let us in with a Haere mai thrown in for good measure.

Actually, while on the subject of height Jarvis is now 107cm tall, as I got to measure him, with the help of Signe taking pictures this afternoon. Jarvis has grown about 3-centimetres over the last few months. As a reward for Signe taking our picture, Jarvis made a Mrs. Potato Head likeness of her. They could be twins aye!

House Dad.
