German For Beginners

In recent days Jarvis has had us stumped over certain words that he's saying. They are obviously German, as he is in the German language class, but as neither Adrienne or I speak the language, we've had no idea. With this in mind I went into the city today to Abbey's Bookshop, which was recommended to me by Almut, Jarvis German Teacher. The selection of children's books in German was pretty good, but a bit advanced for us, so I opted for German For Beginners, priced at $29.95. It's pretty good, as it contains a dictionary, phrase book, flash cards, audio CD, picture book and stickers. The plan is for all of us to use it.

Anyway, the plan was to give it to Jarvis when we picked him up from school, however the wee guy was fast asleep on the floor when we arrived. I tried to carry him to Felix's stroller, but he woke up. He was very dozy, but perked up instantly when I told him that I had a present. He was stoked with his gift, but I insisted that we waited until we got home to open it, because, well, I'm grumpy Dah and that's what I do ;o)

We opened the collection at home, where Jarvis spent the next 90-minutes looking through all the bits. So yeah, a success I think. Now Adrienne and I have to put some time into learning German, as I'm sure we'll be called upon to help out with homework soon enough.

Tschus, House Dad.
