The Scooter Boy

Lat week when our Marathon Training Group hosted one of our club runs, Jarvis joined his Dah to help out. The highlight of Jarvis morning with us, was playing on one of the older children's scooter, that they'd brought along. He spent about and hour just going up and down the path, back and forth, in his own little world, having a wonderful time. Well all this week it's been on my mind to buy him one, but with Felix suffering from teething, I've not had the chance, until this morning, to get along to Toys R Us to buy one.

So it was that after my return from a club 10K race, Jarvis and I jumped into the car to head over to Toys R Us. It was also a good oppurtunity to let Adrienne and Felix get some sleep after another horrendous night of teething woes. It was nice too, as Jarvis and I rarely spend time together alone these days, which was the case for so many years. We had a lovely chat on the drive over and had lots of laughs.

At Toys r Us, I had a bit of a dilemma, as the Razor brand was $90, way too expensive in my view. Then there was the three wheel type, which I felt was too flimsy and small for Jarvis. Then we spotted a funky blue one called The Madd Attitude, which retailed at the more reasonable price of $40. It was boxed, which meant that we couldn't test it in the store, so chanced our arm and took it to the cashier. Bonus, it was on sale for $30, meaning one very happy Dah.

As soon as we exited the store, Jarvis was just busting to open it, which we did. He jumped on and shot off with no problems. I say no problems, because he's not actually mastered anything beyond having one foot on the deck and one pushing off from the surface. This doesn't bother Jarvis, as he thinks he a real cool dude riding one. He just couldn't wait to get home to show his beloved Mumma what a cool big boy he is.

For the next hour or so at home, we scooted up and down the road on his new scooter, stopping only to tell anyone who'd listen, that he'd got a new scooter and is now a big boy, not a baby though, like Felix who was following on behind, on his push along truck.

So yeah, that's Jarvis day with his new scooter, that he's been riding all day, outside and in. He's moved from every room in the house on it and truly loves the new toy. I think it'll get lots of use and be his favourite thing for ages to come. Oh and the only other person allowed to ride on it, is his beloved Mumma for some reason. But hey, everyone is in bed now, so I'm off for a scoot around the block in the dark...wahoo!

House Dad.

Hey Scooter Boy, you are in for lots of fun with that. I just bought my boys new scooters last week too, and they are 13 in August! It is their 3rd one each in probably 5 years. They ride them to school every day and the school built a scooter parking bay with special stands for the large numbers of scooters that need housing each school day.

After checking into yours and your cousins lives for the past couple of years via blogs, I have finally started my own blog, hope you come visit one day soon. It's pretty basic, one thing at a time, but when I grow up I want one just like your Dah's! Lol.
