Biscuit Buddies

Often the best get togethers are the impromptu ones, as happened this afternoon after school. The boys and I were playing in the back service lane, when our friend Christine who lives 20 or so houses down the road spotted us. Within minutes, we were stoked to see Christine and wee Lucy trudging up the lane in our direction. Jarvis could not contain himself and sprinted off down the lane to greet them. It was a bit chilly, so we all came inside for a cup of tea and a play.

Lucy is really cool and gets on so well with Jarvis as she is so ungirly, and can give Jarvis as good as he gives in the rough and ready play stakes. Anyway, as soon as they were inside, it was straight into the biscuit barrel to load up on sugar for some noisy and boisterous play. The two urchins where everywhere - hiding in beds, running up and down the hall and bouncing off the sofas. While all this went on, Christine and I just sat back, blocked out as much of the noise as we could and enjoyed our cups of tea.

The funniest moment was when Lucy called Jarvis "Jarv." I've never heard him be called that before and as Christine correctly pointed out, it's a very Australian thing to do, shorten someones name. So yeah, he's now called Jarv :o)

As I said, it was a totally impromptu get together, but so much fun and a wonderful way to end our day.

House Dad.
