Weekend Wrap 9th And 10th August 2008

On Saturday morning I had a haircut booked in the city, so the whanau all jumped into the car for some fun in the C.B.D. While I had my hair done, Adrienne and the boys went to Myers to check out the 40% off book sale. I know I grumble about the amount of toys that Jarvis has, but I'd never ever moan about having too many books. Jarvis is very much into the style of books that have fold out sections, little maps and hidden bits. His collection currently consists of books on Wizards and Goblins with another added this weekend on Pyramids. The book has a hidden draw in the back, lots of pull out sections and some bits that can be made into pyramids and a mummy mask - very cool stuff indeed.

After shopping at Myers we drove across the Harbor Bridge to check out Adrienne's new offices. It was a great chance to check out the view from her new office, though as you can see from the picture below, no matter how hard he tried, Jarvis could not get his vertigo suffering Dah near the windows.

Saturday night was spent as we normally spend them, tucking into pizza and watching TV. It's my favourite time of the week, eating pizza and cuddling up with my boys. Life just couldn't get any better :o) Later on in the evening Jarvis helped me pack my sports bag ready for the next morning, as I was running in the City 2 Surf race. He looked super cool in my Sydney Striders vest and race number.

The City 2 Surf is a fun run from Hyde Park to Bondi beach, a distance of 14-kilometers, that this year was attended by 70,000 runners, joggers and walkers. I ran it in 85:16 last year, but managed to knock 12-minutes off my time this year, coming in at 73:13, meaning that next year I get to start in the first set of runners. I'm stoked, as I'm still carrying quite a major knee injury.

The best part of any race for me is seeing the whanau at the end, that's if they have managed to get along. This time they made it and I was so grateful that they did, though I think that this will be the last time, as it's such a hassle for Adrienne to get the boys ready and to the locations on her own. It was worth it though, as they had heaps of fun playing with all the cool stuff around the finishers area.

After a nice afternoon nap for the whanau we all did some craft, with an egg painting session. Adrienne always instigates these activities, which Jarvis really enjoys. After boiling some eggs, Jarvis painted them, waited for them to dry and then Adrienne, Jarvis and I, each got to decorate one each. In the picture below, you can see (left to right) Jarvis red monster egg, my yellow monster escaping from an egg and Adrienne's cool blue glittery egg. It was loads of fun.

So yeah, that was our cool weekend. We all hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

House Dad.
