The Boys Are Back In Town

The boys were due to catch up with a very good friend of ours Sophie, who has recently moved over from New Zealand. Jarvis and Sophie are great mates and have had many, many lunch dates, where basically I tag along and clean up the mess. Sadly though, Sophie had to cancel on us this morning, due to a large workload.

However, the sun was shining, we were all washed and dressed and just busting to do something, so why not go to the city anyway. So that's what we did and found ourselves waiting for the 10.08am train to the city.

On the platform Jarvis zoned in on a young woman standing nearby, who he liked the look of. Withing minutes, the young woman, whose name we discovered after introductions is called Claire had struck up a great friendship with Jarvis. It was like they were long lost buddies exchanging hugs and holding hands as they boarded the train. All the way into the city Jarvis and Claire played games and had a wonderful time. Jarvis even took some pictures of Claire pulling silly faces, which I won't put up here, but on Facebook. It was the most wonderful of things and purely by chance that we met Claire, who it seems has a wonderfully warm nature and gentleness and made our trip into the city, very special indeed.

Felix feel asleep as we left the station, which allowed Jarvis and I to spend a full hour in the coolest toy/hobby shop ever called HobbyCo. It's full of models and stuff, but seems to be full of men reliving their youth. I can see why, as after Jarvis played with the Scalextric for a while, I was eying up the boxes and thinking mmmmmm.

Once Felix woke up we moved to a small cafe next door to HobbyCo, where we ordered one large breakfast and a pot of tea for me. It was a mission trying to feed two restless boys and only about 60% of the breakfast was eaten. That's not the worst part though, as my pot of tea didn't even get touched - what a crime!

We then just went walkabout around Sydney, spending a fair amount of time in the Botanical Gardens. On leaving the gardens we all scored an ice-block, which gave Jarvis a mouth freeze. It serves him right though, for trying to eat it so quickly.

The last part of our day out was spent in the fountains outside Circular Quay, where the boys slipped off their shoes and took a paddle to cool their feet down. Jarvis was just the best Brother and took great care, in making sure that wee Felix didn't slip over in the fountain.

After the train ride home, both boys were fast asleep in under sixty-seconds as I drove away from the train station. And once home and safely deposited into their beds, I took the opportunity to put up my sore feet and FINALLY enjoy a cup of tea!

House Dad.
