Jarvis' Blog One Year Old Today

Yes it's true, I've been doing this Blog for exactly a year now and what fun it's been. I started out on the first weekend that I became a full-time House Dad, thinking that I'd do this gig for six-months, then go back to radio. Now a year later, I'm fully into what I do and have come to realise that, what was initially a financial decision, has now become a role that I cherish and one that is vital to Jarvis' upbringing. Not many guys get this chance to do this and I need to keep telling myself that.

It's been a pleasure to do over 270 updates (I'll do 365 next year) and have over 4500 hits to the site. The feed-back from family has been wonderful, as I've come to realise that it has become a vital tool for them, being so far away from us. They've been able to see Jarvis develop on an almost daily basis. For close friends too, it's been wonderful to share stories of things we've done together, like birthday parties and days out.

We've made some good friends, that incredibly we've never met, via the article I wrote for Little Treasure's magazine, on how to start a blog. It's great fun to check in on their sites and see what their wee ones are up to.

So thanks for sharing the last year with us. It's been 99% highs and 1% me just being a grumpy old git. To celebrate the big day, Lee, Adrienne and Jarvis had a wonderful Thai Curry on our Plastic Fantastic Lawn this evening. For those of you worried about Jarvis drinking from his Dad's beer glass, remember, that I'm t-total and there was only a dribble of beer in my lemonade. Anyway, let's be honest, at 18-months old, we all know that Jarvis could hold his drink better than his old man!

House Dad.
