I have a confession and that is that I'm actually writing this update, not on Wednesday or Thursday, but on Friday night after our return home. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but the first couple of nights that I updated the blog, I had to walk back to the gate house in pitch blackness through the estate grounds. I'm a city boy through and through and to be brutally honest, I'm petrified of the darkness and remoteness of the country side, so could not drum up the courage to walked the 800-metres back to the gate house. Give me built up smelly, noisy cities any day. So there you are:
OK, today the boys drove the 60-minutes back towards Melbourne to visit the zoo. As with yesterdays visit to Scienceworks, entry was free, as it's a deal that our membership gets us into all of Australia's top zoos free of charge.
The weather was wonderful and we spent a happy three-hours roaming around the zoo, which does not seem to have as wide a range of animals as Sydney, but the animals they do have, live in far more spacious pens. It also seems to be set in much larger grounds, so there was plenty of walking, with the major bonus being that it's all flat, unlike it's Sydney counterpart, which is built on a steep hillside.
So yeah, a lovely trip to Melbourne zoo, on a beautiful sunny Melbourne day - Could life get any better, I think not!

Thursday
After an early night, I was nice and refreshed and busting to get the boys into Melbourne city for a look-see. Adrienne and I had stayed in Melbourne many years ago, but I'd forgotten what a wonderful city it is and so easy to navigate, as it's built on a grid system.
After reversing out of the first car park we found, due to the cost being $46 for three-hours, we pulled into a little moody car park, which looked totally illegal, but only cost $15 for the whole day - bargain - love it.
The priority for us was of course to jump onto one of Melbourne's famous trams, which run all over the city and beyond. Our plan was to ride the city circle ones, that continually loop the C.B.D and are free. They are really old and perfect for tourists, as they have a speaker system on-board, instructing you, as to what is available in and around each stop.
So for the next five-hours we just roamed around the city, listening and watching some of the excellent buskers and stopping here and there for the odd bit to eat. The highlight for Jarvis though was when he discovered an RD-D2 made from lego. Jarvis, like his beloved Mumma, is a bit of a science fiction/fantasy fan.
Then it was back onto one of the old trams or the ride back to the car. Just for good measure though, I let the boys play for another 30-minutes in a park, so that I could truly wear them out for the hour long ride back to Mount Eliza. As planned, both boys slept the entire trip back and I even managed to get them both cuddled up on the sofa together, as you can see in the really cute picture below.
