It's Monday, So It Must Be The Zoo

I told Jarvis that if he was the first boy into the bath this morning, he could choose were we would go today. After I said no to his first choice of a toy shop, we settled on his second choice of the zoo. It was a great choice too, as today promised to be a scorcher, so we packed the cozies and set off.

Even as we drove over the Harbor Bridge at 9.45am, the temperature was getting around the high twenties and I was glad that we were all wearing shorts, t-shirts and hats. I even managed to pack some sun screen for the first time this year, though I eventually forgot to put it on the boys!

Once at the zoo, our tradition is for Jarvis to grab a map and lead the way, however with Felix now walking for about 95% of our days out, the trip takes a lot longer. This is good though, as I assigned Jarvis the job of teaching his younger Brother about all the animals we'd see on our walk through the zoo. He was pretty good too and showed Felix heaps of animals.

We even discovered a whole new section that we'd never visited before, that contained some large kangaroos. Jarvis asked what the large thing hanging down from between some of the kangaroos was, to which I replied "They are called testicles Jarvis, all boys and men have them." For the next 10-minutes, testicles was his favorite word!

By about 11.30am it was getting very hot, but luckily we found ourselves at the kids zoo section, which has lots of water features. No sooner were the boys into their cozies, than they were both up to their necks in the chilly water. All the other little people looked jealous and must have been wondering why their parents were not as organised as Super Dah..LOL.

The boys stayed in that area for about and hour, which is longer than I'd normally expect, but it was now about 34-degrees, so the water was keeping us all cool. There was so much running about and fun to be had, that by about 1.00pm, I spotted a couple of yawns. This was my cue to get the boys dry, dressed and back to the car.

Jarvis was so good on this trip out, that I insisted that he bought a toy in the shop. Saying that, it still had to be under $5, as I'm such a tight-arse! He settled on a tub of Outback Slime, which you can see in the picture below, is a tub of red slime containing a large rubber spider. He was not allowed to open it until he got home, as I did not want all that goo in our car.

As per normal, both boys were fast asleep within minutes of our departure, meaning that I could transfer them to their beds and enjoy 30-minutes of Dah time with a refreshing cup of tea. Lovely :o)
