Catching Up With A Kiwi

Wednesdays are always pretty cool as we get to catch up with fellow Kiwi Tieia and her little people Portia and Scarlett. We were a bit pushed for time today, so the easiest option was to meet up at The Entertainment Quarter which, is such and easy place for carers and little people to hang. However, the day out started with poor Jarvis running from the car and having his pants fall down! I forgot that the jeans he had on today need a belt to Keep them from falling down, so he had the run holding them up. It was such a funny sight and I was laughing so much that I forgot to take a picture. Joking aside, it would have been a safety problem for him to run around the play ground, so I used some good old kiwi ingenuity and fashioned a belt from a bandage from my ever present first aid kit. It worked a treat and keep his pants from falling down all morning.

We met up with Tieia and the girls and spent some time in the play ground before heading over to the Wednesday market, where I had to buy some fruit for Jarvis, as I've still not done any groceries since getting back on Sunday night. It's a very funky market that caters to the wealthy plebs of the Eastern Suburbs, so is VERY pricey, but our boy needs his daily fruit. I bought two apples and about 100 grams of grapes to go with his lunch and all for only $4.50!!!!!

Our next stop was Kids Central which is just the coolest toy shop, as they are very relaxed and open to little people playing with the toys. It's a policy that works well, as I've often let Jarvis play with a toy that I think he'll like, only to see him loose interest within a few minutes. For instance, I pulled down a toy space set this morning, that I thought he might like as a future birthday present, however he lost interest in under 4-minutes. He does have his eye on a wooden pirate ship though, that I think would make a wonderful birthday present from his Mumma...hint hint.

It was now time for a lunch stop, so we all parked our butts on the steps of New Zealand Natural Ice-Cream for a bite to eat. Wee Portia, being the honey that she is, even shared her fruit with Jarvis, who had to be coaxed to do the same. It was nice to have a few minutes to chat with Tieia, who is one very smart cookie and into off the wall movies and art, particularly photography, as I am. She showed me some of the funky cameras that she carries around - incredible things! Anyway, we tried to get a candid shot of all of us eating lunch, but Mr. Whirlwind cottoned on to what was happening and did a runner, as you'll see from the picture below of him leaving the bottom of the frame.

Right, I'm off for a nana-nap, as Jarvis slept all night in the lower bunk, while I slept in the upper. He kept talking all bloody night about toys, kittens and babies and I couldn't sleep for laughing. I also had a rough sleep due to the glow in the dark space ships that I put up on the ceiling which, fell down in the night, onto my bunk and stuck to my back, legs and butt, making for a most uncomfortable night. The boys are sleeping in the bunk beds to give Adrienne some decent nights sleep, as she's working hard and getting more tired as the pregnancy goes on.

It's now the evening and I've three more pictures to add. The first is Adrienne's puku at 22-weeks, she's not that big eh. The next one is of my puku which, has gained 2 kilos after my 2-weeks in NZ. Back to running this weekend. Finally, of course, Jarvis had to get in on the act. Apparently, it's a pirate's treasure map.

House Dad.
