Rose Bay Rocks

Our regular Friday morning catch-up with Jane, Sophie and Tommy was in danger of not happening, as Sophie had been a bit unwell and Jarvis and I still had a touch of the sniffles. However, Jane and I decided that some fresh air and sunshine might bring us right, which it did.

The place for today's catch-up was Rose Bay, on the shore of the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. We've tried several times before to visit this play ground with limited success, as the parking in that area is awful. Most times, we've given up and moved onto Parsley Bay, further on up the coastline. However today we were in luck and found one of the few available parks to be had and meet up with Jane, Sophie and Tommy. Jane and I were saying that more and more play grounds are beginning to be covered now which, is so good, as it keeps the little people out of the sun. Sadly, the oldies still like to sit in the sunshine and roast our skin!

Another major draw card for the play ground is that it's where the sea planes take off and every time one fires up it's engines, all the little people run over to the fence to watch it take off. It looks like fun, and I think we'll have to go for a flight one day with the whole whanau and have a look at Sydney from the air.

As normal, Jarvis had a great time playing with Sophie and Tommy, who he respects immensely. They even found a wee caterpillar and very, very gently let it crawl from one persons hand to another. It was very touching to see such gentleness between the three of them.

The highlight though, was when Jane had them all sit on one end of the see-saw and bounced them all up and down. There were screams of delight and they all looked like they were having just the most special moment together.

It will be another 3-weeks until we see our buddies, as we are off home next week, so we'll miss them heaps, but Jane and I have it locked into our calendars, so that Friday mornings will be when we all catch-up.

As I mentioned yesterday, I went to the movies with my buddy Tieia last night and it was my choice for the movie we were to see this week. I have a terrible habit, like most men, of skim reading stuff and only briefly read the synopsis for Little Children that starred Kate Winslet. I read something about parents, children and play grounds and thought that would suit us, seeing that we both work with little people all day long. OMG! We had no idea that it was going to be that heavy a movie. There were some very disturbing scenes in the film which, would without doubt, upset any parent, carer or normal person. We were both stunned at the end. A good movie though, but yeah, be warned if you do go and see it, it's quite upsetting.

House Dad.
