Toddler Keys

I got up this morning at 4.30am, I think due to the excitement of having to run in an hours time in the heavy rain! Anyway, it's at this time that I normally read the cool blog sites of my Internet buddies and have a general surf around. Well this morning I found a really cool tool that if like me, you have little people who just love to play on our PCs when we are not looking. You know the moments, it's when it's completely quiet and you find that they've stuffed some paper into your DVD drive door or clicked a button and cancelled that really big download which was just seconds from finishing. The software is called Toddler Keys (click name for download link) and it enables you to lock your keyboard, drive doors, mouse and on/off button. You can add pictures and sound, or just leave it as I have, so that if Jarvis plays with the mouse, he can do simulated chalk drawings on the screen. When you are ready to use your PC again, you simply type in the word 'quit' and everything is back to normal. I had a play this morning and came up with the picture below. OK the man looks pretty cool, but I got confused half-way through drawing a dog and started drawing a kangaroo - c'mon, it was 4.30am! Jarvis has had a play too and really likes it as well.

This morning Jarvis and I went to see our buddy Lisa to pick up the mini-DVD player we loaned her for a trial. I told Jarvis that Oscar would not be there, as he was at school (day-care) and asked if he wanted to go to school one day. He replied firmly "No Dah, no school, stay with Dah." So Adrienne, if you are reading this at work, can you keep working until you are about 90, so the boys can stay at home and play?

We took Lisa to Bondi Junction, as she had to have an Xray on here broken foot and decided that we'd go to the mall for a play. We spent some time in Target where Jarvis choose an Easter Egg for his Mumma. I tried to guide him towards all the cheap ones, but he ended up picking the most expensive one. Bugger! I should be happy though, as it's made from really nice chocolate and Adrienne doesn't even eat the stuff, so it looks like I'll score it...yahoo!

We then spent some time in the science shop, where Jarvis continued his celestial passion, by playing with the telescopes. He really does have a thing for stars and planets and just loves looking through telescopes, microscopes and binoculars. So it looks like he might be showing early signs of becoming an Astronomer, Scientist or Peeping Tom.

Our final stop at the mall was to tuck into some Kai, while sitting for a wee moment in the big boys chair. No more high-chairs for Jarvis apparently, as they are for babies. He did pretty well and sat long enough to eat half of his sausage roll, before it kicked in and it was all on for Father and Son in a game of chase around the restaurant. Things calmed down slightly when Lisa turned up after her Xray, but only slightly.

House Dad.

Toddler keys sounds like a nifty thing I could use. My four little ones are so into computer.

You're right about what you said with kids and praises. I think we're raising better human beings that way.

Did I tell you we love Jarvis' curly hair? I want curly hair but couldn't manage it as I have stubbornly straight hair.
