I See Nana Smoking

I had a very late night, so welcomed a nice easy day today which is exactly what we all got. It started pretty early though with a trip for the whanau to Ikea, to arrive just as they opened, so we could pick up some bits for Jarvee's new bedroom which, is taking on a car/space theme. I was determined to get the majority of it completed today, as he had his first full night on Saturday sleeping on his own, even though the room was strewn with tools and pots of paint. Adrienne even got to sleep in the top bunk and I had my first night in our bed for what must be over two and half years.

The room is looking pretty cool, as we've put up the glow in the dark stars and planets on the ceiling and Jarvis can even point out Earth to tell us that it's the planet he lives on. Hopefully the boys will get to the Sydney Observatory this week and we can pick up some posters of planets to finish off the room. We'll also be spending a bit of time in Manly, as Adrienne has a conference on over there, so will be exploring the Manly beach and town.

Jarvis has so enjoyed having his Mumma around for the last two days and gives her lots of cuddles and tells her he loves her heaps. Likewise, I take great pleasure in seeing Adrienne beaming with pride when she looks at her son. Adrienne is just the best Mum and totally faultless when it come to parenting.

In the afternoon Jarvis and I played on the computer and looked at Earth using Google Earth which is just an incredible tool. We located New Zealand and spotted Jarvis' Nana having a cigarette in Greymouth. After that, we fed Jarvis' fish some live Blackworms which was quite yucky but heaps of fun. Jarvis' fish have started breeding and I think we are going to have lots of Platys swimming around soon.

Later on our buddy Katherine came over and Jarvis was DELIGHTED to see her and pulled out all his best Spider Man moves. It was so nice later on in the evening, drinking coffee in Neutral Bay with Katherine and her mates, hearing Katherine tell them what a wonderful boy Jarvis is and how so in love with life he is. It's so nice to hear Jarvis and our parenting style praised, it lets me know that we are doing an OK job.

House Dad.
