A Great Day - Plus House Dad's Bonus Top Tip

After having such a cruisey weekend, I thought the boys might like to get out and do something, as our shoe box sized house tends to get a bit cramped on rainy days. So it was on with raincoats and into the car for the short drive down to the light railway. I'd done my research and worked out that if we drove, it would cost $12 to park, plus about $3 worth of petrol, going by the current price. However, for the same amount of money, we could get a day long pass for both the light railway and monorail.

So we did it and took firstly the train and then the monorail, that dropped us off near The Sydney Aquarium. I've said it before, but the staff at the aquarium are just awful. For instance, as we walked up to the members counter to get in, the girl behind the counter, without looking up said glumly "tickets are at the other counter", to which I replied "I'm a member. She took my card and didn't utter another word or look up. How's that for first impression when you go in? It's pretty much the same with all the staff as you go around. Ah well, we weren't there that, we were there for fun, which we had in buckets loads. The best bit was the last massive window that you come to. The game was for Jarvis to stand with his back to it until I screamed 'Shark" when one came right up close. He'd fake a scream and run.

Also at the Aquarium, we had to make a quick dash into the bathroom to change Felix. Jarvis has this annoying, yet funny trick of standing under the hand dryers. It makes his hair look like the town idiot, but it's funny and makes us all laugh, as you'll see from the picture below.

Once we got home and had some lunch, our buddies Vanessa and Dane came by to see if we wanted to go for a walk, which of course we did. We bought some donuts and a balloon and ended up paying a visit to our friend Nicole and her beautiful wee girl Tahlia, who also live in our street. The rest of the afternoon was spent with three adults and four little people playing with toys in wee Tahlia's room.

So now for my bonus House Dad's Top Tip: Today, as we got onto the train, Jarvis informed me that he needed to wee. Normally we'd find a bush or tree to do the deed, however there was no where to go and ages before we could get off to find somewhere to pee. Then I had a brainwave. I took out one of Felix's nappies and asked Jarvis to wee into it. Of course, it absorbed all the urine. Then I popped it into a nappy bag and dropped it into the next bin. How easy! So yeah, even once we've passed to point when both boys are out of nappies, it will be a great idea to keep one in the bag for such instances, as I'm sure they'll happen. The only downside is, that I'm not sure if this trick would work for girls, sorry :o(
