For example, on Saturday we spent a couple of hours in the rear lane, playing with the neighbors girls Maddy and Stephanie. It was just one of those wonderful impromptu things, that was lots of fun. Jarvis got to ride his bike up and down the lane with the girls and I was so relaxed, that I didn't even rush into the house to grab the camera, I just enjoyed the moment.
After our play outside, Jarvis asked his beloved Mumma if he could bake some cookies. Adrienne being the wonderful baker that she is, made up all the ingredients from scratch...DOH! I've just spotted the pre-mixed cookie box in the first picture! But yeah, they had a great time making and tasting the cookies.
This morning, I left the house at 5am for a nice, easy 21K cross country run with my club. I returned at about 10am and as I stated in the week, I've decided that I'm going to slow down and enjoy my family more. Well, I came straight in and plonked myself down next to Jarvis, whereas I'd normally come home, shower and go to bed for a catch up nap. However, as I sat next to Jarvis, I was so aware of the love in his eyes as he looked at me. It dawned on me that he'd missed his Dah and that this wasn't the first time I'm sure, that he's looked at me this way. I've just been too busy in the past to spot it. It certainly sank in and has changed my attitude to how I'll behave around my beloved boys from now on.
So with that thought still in my mind throughout the day, I've spent as much time as possible, just laying around and playing with the boys. There was even a point in the day, when we relived our past lazy days and had the whole family taking a much needed afternoon nap - wonderful.
After our nap, we played Lord Of The Rings, with Adrienne being Galadriel, Jarvis being Aragon, Felix being Gimli and Dah just being some random Orc, who gets slaughtered every 30-seconds! Then we erected the old pin board that we had in New Zealand for keeping a very young Jarvis out of the kitchen when I was cooking. This time round, it's being used to keep Jarvis and Felix apart when battles occur over toys. I do see Jarvis side here, as he's now very good at solo playing, however Felix sees this and wants to rock up an smash everything. So yeah, we'll give it a try.
Now we are all winding down after a lovely relaxed weekend and I'm so glad that I realised the beauty of slowing down and spending quality time with my family. It's so important aye :o)

Great cookies Jarvis, I do smile to myself each time I see that dammed spider in the photos on your blog, because each time I see it I have to take a double take and then remind myself - yes it is that silly pretend spider, not a real one!
My Katie is in your city this week for World Youth Day, she went to Taronga Zoo today and loved it! I hope you are not disrupted too much by all the people that will be around this week!
Take care all and especially you Lee, your weekend wrap post reminds me of the saying "take time to smell the roses"
