Jarvis started his day off by building a fort from the coloured building blocks that I bought him for his first Christmas present, when he was 6-months old. Finally, 3.5-years later, he's capable of using them. I brought them down from the loft at the weekend for Felix to play with, but Jarvis has been doing heaps of creative stuff with them.
Once we were all washed, fed and dressed, we drove over to Bondi Junction, as we needed to do the weekly grocery shop and get a new pair of sneaker for Jarvis, as his current pair have vanished! The only place we buy shoes for our boys is Shoes and Sox, who have just the most wonderful staff. We went in expecting to pay something like the normal $50 - $90, we'd spend on a good pair of sneakers, but came away only paying $20 for a pair of Dunlop Volleys. I think the motivation for buying them was that my Nooks sneakers are built on the same Dunlop base, so both boys now have the same sneakers.
Later in the day our good friends Signe, Betty and Evie came round for a play. It was wonderful to see them, as due to illness, we'd not all caught up for a couple of weeks. Anyway, Signe told Adrienne and I the funniest story:
Yesterday, Signe decided to have a shower when her flatmate went out for a while. Signe enjoyed a lovely shower, however once out and dried, she went to turn the bathroom door knob only to have it come off in her hand! Her bathroom is very, very small, but Signe decided to wait patiently for her flatmate to return, however after 2-hours waiting, she decided that something had to be done. So Signe, wrapped in nothing more than a very small and skimpy bath towel, climbed up and out of the tiny bathroom window and dropped down 2-metres onto the freezing cold path outside her house. It's a busy road and eventually Signe found a woman who was willing to help her, by calling the Police (the first woman she asked couldn't stop laughing and left her there). Eventually a fire engine with five burly fire men pulled up to find a sad, freezing cold, half naked Japanese girl shivering outside her house. Apparently, before they unlocked her front door, they told Signe that seeing such a cutie had made their day. Signe, being the wonderful girl that she is, took them all some Tim Tams later in the day to say thank you.
When Signe told us the story, Adrienne and I just couldn't stop laughing and said that we'd just have to share it with everyone on Jarvis blog. Funny story eh.
House Dad.
