The drive up went very well, with our new G.P.S taking us from door to door with no glitches. It's such a cool toy and we've even set it to give us instructions in a female New Zealand voice. She's called Katrina and Jarvis says that she is a clever robot, who knows all the good routes to take. She also growls at Dah when he drives too fast!
I booked a motor inn for us to stay at for two-days. Adrienne was a bit horrified, as it was 2-stars short of what she'd normally stay in, but hey, if I can do it on the cheap, I will. And really, come on, Adrienne's from Greymouth for heavens sake! Jarvis nicknamed it The Castle, as I think it was an old house at one stage.
We were staying in Katoomba and struck town on the weekend that they celebrate the Winter Solstice Festival. Jarvis thought it was great fun to see all the 'alternative' people dressed up, but I shuddered, as it was too much like being back in Golden Bay, New Zealand for my liking. Nah, just joking, as they were all very kind and friendly people, but I do struggle with the fact they they all seem to play African drums VERY VERY badly!
Rather than give Jarvis his three presents in one go, we thought that we'd give him one a day, over the three days of our trip. Felix was the first to give his big Brother his present, which was a Mr. Potato Head Alien kit. Jarvis is quite into Mr. Potato Head, so Felix's pick was pretty good for an 11-month-old.
However, Adrienne being Adrienne pulled a surprise and went against our plan of each buying Jarvis one present each, by bringing along two gifts for her boy. So it was that Jarvis got another present today, that of a Ben 10 Alien Laboratory Bus, that was jammed packed full of cool and funky experiments. The rest of the afternoon was taken up with Jarvis filling scientific looking bottles with goo and other yucky looking solutions.
House Dad.
