Jarvie's Birthday Weekend - Day Two

Day two of our Blue Mountains adventure, saw us leaving the motor inn nice and early for the 3-minute drive to Scenic World, to be waiting on their doorstep at 9.00am sharp. We had to buy a combination of tickets, as there is no way on earth that you'd get me in the Scenic Cableway or the Scenic Skyway. I played it safe, or so I thought and decided that Felix and I would go down the side on the mountain via the Scenic Railway, as my greatest fear is heights.

So off Jarvis and Adrienne went in the cable car for th 545-metre drop into the valley below, whilst Felix and I climbed into the scary looking train, that would take us 415-metres down the side of the mountain at 1:128 gradient! My god, I'm not sure who was more scared, me or Felix? At least he had a nappy on though!

Once both pairs got off their chosen modes of transport, we all met up in the middle of the Scenic Walkway, that had some very interesting artifacts. It was nice to be in the bush after being in a city for so long and hearing all the bird calls.

We then all went back up in the railway, which both Felix and I enjoyed much less than we'd enjoyed on the way down. Once off, it was straight onto the Scenic Skyway for the fearless Jarvis and Adrienne. The Skyway has a glass bottom section, that you can see down 270-metres though and into the valley below. If, like Jarvis and Adrienne, you have no fear whatsoever, you can even stand on it, which they both did - INSANE!

After all the height and stuff, I needed a nice lunch back in Katoomba, before we headed off again on a 45-minute drive to The Zig Zag railway. We'd planned our trip well and arrive with plenty of time to catch the 1.00pm train, down into yet another valley. The trip was great fun, with lots of steam, toot toots and soot in our eyes. Jarvis even got to go into the cabin of the steam train and up into the junction box. It was a great thing to do and we all had a wonderful time.

Then in the evening Jarvis got to open the second present from his beloved Mumma. It was a Playmobil farm set, which Jarvis has had his eye on for ages. It was good timing too, as we were kind of stuck in a motor inn room, with Jarvis busting to do something, so the toys came in handy.

House Dad.
