Jarvis Nanny Trish wanted to go to Paddy's Market today, so we all jumped on the light railway at Rozelle Bay for the ride into town, that drops us off right outside the market. It's only really tourists that shop at Paddy's Market, but for a wee guy like Jarvis, it's an Aladdin's cave, full of colourful, loud and cheap old crap. After a while it became a drag to say for the hundredth time "Look with eyes Jarvis, no touching." I gave up, after he'd worked out that he could move stuff by blowing on it!
If it's rip off stuff that falls to pieces in a matter of hours, then Paddy's Market is your place, as it has every sort of counterfeited toy you could imagine. For example, Jarvis, like many boys his age and older, are into Ben 10. A large Ben 10 character would normally cost about $30, but at Paddy's Market, the place was full of awful, cheap-arse rip offs for only $10. On close inspection, you can see that they are very badly made and would break in a matter of hours. So it was, that grumpy Dah said "No" on countless occasions, as it's just a waste of money. I did buy him a $3 Astro Boy though, that I thought was most generous of me.
After the battles of Paddy's Market, we went upstairs to the mall, where Nanny Trish bought Jarvis a book on Wizards. It's a really cool book that we've seen around and Jarvis has asked me to buy many times. Happily for Jarvis, his Nanny bought him the book, as she's not as grumpy and tight fisted as me ;o)
Then it was home to read his book, while wearing his Wizards hat. It's such a great book and Jarvis spent hours reading it and casting spells, before falling asleep. I was glad that he did, as he's had such a big week with his Nanny Trish around, that a nice long 3-hour afternoon nap was just what the wee guy needed.
Now he's awake and I can hear him and his beloved Mumma reading the book. I think they are working on a spell to make me less grumpy and tight-fisted!
House Dad.
